Join the MAP Board

Join the MAP Board of Directors

The Midwest Assistance Program Inc. Board of Directors is currently seeking volunteer board members to represent Minnesota and North Dakota. Persons interested in serving are encouraged to contact Rick Hunsaker, Board Development Chair for an application (712-775-7800 or rhunsaker@region12cog.org).

Experiences Sought:
Volunteer board members come from a variety of backgrounds. Among the knowledge/experience we find helpful: state and local government administration, public works (sewer/water), economic development, finance, non-profit administration, elected officials, community development, community services, regional planning, and, of course, business administration/entrepreneurship.

Board Responsibilities:
The MAP board meets every other month, with three meetings typically being conducted by conference call and three being held in-person (one in Washington DC and two somewhere in the 9-state service territory). The MAP board sets policy for agency, employs the Executive Director, establishes the agency budget, and completes strategic planning carried out by the Executive Director and 40+ staff members spread throughout the north central United States. The board ensures its programs remain impactful through its oversight of the Executive Director and its advocacy activities.

Mission Statement - Midwest Assistance Program, Inc., is dedicated to helping rural communities and tribal nations improve their environment, quality of life, and achieve self-sustainability.
