(pdf, 905k)

Where: The Communities of Wausa, Magnet, McLean, Coleridge, and Belden in northeastern Nebraska.
Problem: A number of small communities in Northern Eastern and North Central Nebraska are having an increasingly difficult time keeping a safe and dependable supply of drinking water for their residents.
Solution: The Midwest Assistance Program staff is providing coordination and communication support to the WAU-COL Regional Water Board and to the governing boards of several small communities looking at this regional system as an answer to the community water

The organization and development of a large regional water supply district appears to be an answer to the water quality and quantity issue of the small Nebraska communities of Wausa, Magnet, McLean, Coleridge, and Bleden, as well as for a number of rural and farm customers in northeastern Nebraska.

The Midwest Assistance Program staff has been working not only with the governing board of the Water District, but also with the boards of the small communities in an attempt to secure funding for the regional system and to bring the distribution and storage capacity of the participating communities up to standards.

This effort by the Midwest Assistance Program staff is an ongoing one, and will continue to require community support for some time into the future.
