North Dakota Success Stories
Assistance helps district meet reporting requirements
Where:
Langdon Rural Water District (Cavalier, Ramsey and Walsh Counties) in North Dakota.
Problem: Funding compliance reporting.
Solution:
MAP staff provided technical assistance for completing required budget and year-end management compliance reporting.
Langdon Rural Water District serves approximately 2,700 residents and 930 connections within Cavalier, Ramsey and Walsh counties in the northeast corner of North Dakota, including 14 rural communities and two hog operations.
The district has received two water loans from Rural Development for financial assistance for community water projects. As a Rural Development borrower, Langdon is required to complete and submit an annual enterprise budget and a year-end management report.
This project was referred to MAP by the State Rural Development office for technical assistance in completing the required reporting, since neither the district secretary nor the director felt capable of completing it unassisted.
MAP staff worked one-on-one with the district secretary to complete both reporting requirements.
MAP staff received a letter from the State Rural Development Office stating that the district’s budget and year-end management reporting had been approved as submitted, meeting all requirements as set forth in their loan/grant agreements.
