About Our Trainings
MAP staff will provide expert training focused on meeting the needs of your community. Thought provoking and interactive courses utilizing the most modern techniques to address current issues are offered at a variety of levels. On-site, regional, and web-based training options are available to benefit a wide range of individuals including utility operators, board members, clerks and elected officials in the areas of water, wastewater, solid waste and management. MAP's training will assist with preparation for state and federal mandatory testing as well as increase knowledge and confidence to successfully meet the needs of your community. MAP staff will secure a location, schedule the event, notify potential attendees, perform registration, conduct presentation, arrange for proctoring of any required exams, garner approval for all CEU/CEC's, and report attendance and/or credits to applicable agencies.

Training Coordinator - Jim JonesJames (Jim) Jones is the Training Coordinator for MAP. He is married with one son. He lives in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. He has over 23 years combined water and wastewater experience working as an operator, chief operator, and utility superintendent. He earned his B.S. degree in Biology and an A.A.S. degree in Water Environmental Technology. He has a passion for improving water quality, trouble shooting, training, and problem solving. James currently holds the highest level Class IV Water Treatment and Class IV Wastewater Treatment Certificates from the State of South Dakota and the highest level Class A Water, Class A Wastewater, and Type 4 Biosolids Certification from the State of Minnesota. James has experience managing utilities, completing rate studies, Total Coliform Tier Two Assessments, creating and delivering training, grant and funding applications, tribal projects, environmental reports, operation and maintenance manuals, obtaining approval for new public water systems, assisting operators pass certification exams, and working with engineers on water and wastewater upgrades.
